11" (28 cm.) A paper-mache headed doll with beautifully sculpted detail of curly hair,painted facial features is mounted on original body with carton torso,leather arms,skirt-shaped lower torso containing clockwork mechanism,brass feet,antique cotton gown and petticoat. When wound,the doll slowly "walks" along on her little brass boot-shaped feet. Condition: generally excellent,mechanism functions,original painting albeit few minor craze lines on shoulder plate. Marks: (remains of original stamp on base). Comments: Martin & Runyan,circa 1868. Value Points: the rare early patented doll is preserved in her original box with illustration and directions for use,having especially fine detail of facial painting.
