Description

11"h. 10"w. 6"d. Each with cast iron frame with scrolled and spiral ornamentation and rich gold-lead hand-applied finish, the chair with elegantly curved arms and oval-shaped back, and the table with a single pedestal terminating in a tripod base with elegant scrolls joined by gilded spindles with a centered finial. Both chair and table are upholstered in original luxurious dark green velvet, the table with gold tack edging above long green fringe. Each bears the maker's green stamp "Maison Huret, No. 22 Boulevard Montmartre Paris" as well as the unique gold lettered registry number: table 9874 (?) and chair 198 (?). Both the chair and the table are depicted in the photograph of Blondinette Davranche presumably at the Chateau de Bois gardens. The story of the furniture is told in the 1994 book "The Trousseau of Blondinette Davranches". Superb original condition of the rare furniture. Circa 1863.
