11"h. table. 12"h. chair. Of finest cherry wood with striped maple wood inlays, the slant front desk features voluptuously curved apron and cabriole legs and is trimmed with an abundance of richly sculpted bronze mounts and beaded edging. The drawers have bronze pulls, as does the fitted interior and there is a rose velvet writing surface. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Maison Alph. Giroux, Paris (paper label). Comments: commissioned for the exclusive Parisian mid-19th century shop, the desk was once owned by the Huret poupee Blondinette and is shown in the original photograph of Blondinette on her family-owned estate in Rouen, France. Value Points: superb workmanship of the finely crafted miniature desk, sized for display with classic 45 cm poupee, with Giroux label, and with important provenance.
