Description
The dart-shaped hip-length crisp ivory silk taffeta jacket with scalloped hem is edged in black velvet with black velvet buttons, and rests atop a blue lightweight woolen skirt with soutache trim that is overlaid with a 3/4 length paneled overskirt of ivory silk. The skirt overlay has the effect of an elongated jacket yet is actually an attached element of the skirt. The ensemble is presented in its original store box bearing the label of Mlle Bereux, the noted Parisian doll costume couturier whose story is told in The Encyclopedia of French Dolls. Near mint condition. Paris, circa 1863.
