18" (46 cm.) Hand-sculpted composition socket head,painted dark blue eyes in deep eye sockets,modeled eyelids with outline,lightly feathered brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth with defined space between the accented lips,defined chin and cheek bones,well-sculpted ears,brunette mohair wig,composition and wooden ball-jointed body,antique costume,undergarments,shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Marian Kaulitz introduced her new concept "art character reform" dolls in 1908 to counteract the dolls then being marketed which she considered too pretty and unrealistic; her concept is believed to be the inspiration for the character doll movement that swept the industry for the ensuing decade.
