11" (28 cm.) Porcelain swivel head with flat-cut neck on porcelain shoulder plate,solid dome,painted black baby hair,sculpted ears,painted blue eyes,red and black upper eyeliner,single stroke brows,accented nostril dots,closed mouth,porcelain hips and lower arms and legs,muslin midriff and upper limbs,antique baby dress. Condition: fine professional restoration to back shoulder plate and arms,otherwise all parts are excellent and original. Comments: Germany,circa 1860,the doll was inspired by the Japanese Ichimatsu doll with loosely- jointed limbs introduced at the mid-19th century London International Exposition,and was the forerunner of the later French and German child doll. Value Points: very rare model with original body,great facial expression.
