18" (46 cm.) Pressed bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque
shoulder plate,sculpted features include rounded pointy nose tip
and chin,full cheeks,heavy-lidded blue glass paperweight inset
eyes with large black pupils,thick black eyeliner,painted
lashes,mauve blushed eye shadow,brush-stroked feathered
brows,accented eye corners,shaded nostrils,closed mouth with
shaded and outlined lips,heart-shaped upper lip,pierced
ears,blonde mohair wig over cork pate,French kid bebe body
with square cut collarette,gusset-jointing at elbows,hips and
knees,bisque forearms with separately sculpted fingers,defined
knuckles and nails. Condition: generally excellent,some kid
patching on original body. Marks: A. 7 T. (head and shoulder
plate). Comments: Andre Thuillier,circa 1880,his first period
bebe. Value Points: outstanding beauty of the very rare early
bebe whose quality of bisque and sculpting is enhanced further
by artful painting,antique wig,original body with beautifully
sculpted hands,wonderful antique ivory silk costume and
bonnet,leather shoes signed A.T. The doll was acquired by Geri
Baker from the Mildred Seeley Collection and is featured in The
Encyclopedia of French Dolls,page 620.
