Description
7" (18 cm.) 54 paper mache puppets,each with uniquely sculpted
head,and hair,painted facial features and hair with head-dress
or cap,has loosely-jointed wooden and paper mache body with
painted shoes and original fabric costume,and each is attached
to metal rod with wooden handle and strings. Condition:
generally excellent. Marks: AMP (with clown logo) Munzbergo Vy
Loutky (paper label on handles of some). Comments: Czech,the
tradition of puppet theatre in that Eastern Europe country is
centuries old,and during the early 20th century it literally
burgeoned,with the creation of hundreds of small theatre groups
throughout the villages,and even an International Puppetry
Exhibition in 1929. Value Points: the extensive collection,each
character varies,is perfectly preserved,and includes an additional
23 heads and various parts.
