11" (28 cm.) Solid domed porcelain swivel head on porcelain shoulder plate, black painted baby hair, sculpted ears, painted facial features, blue eyes, red and black upper eyeliner, closed mouth with hint of impish smile, porcelain lower torso and lower arms and legs, bare feet, muslin midriff and upper arms and legs. Condition: restoration to shoulder plate and hidden neck rim of head, otherwise excellent. Comments: circa 1860,considered the historically first model of the classic child doll with jointed limbs that came into popularity some two decades earlier. Value Points: very rare doll especially as swivel head model, has all original parts, bare feet, great expression.
