Description
14" (36 cm.) Pale bisque swivel head on bisque shoulder
plate,neck articulation system allowing the head to tilt forward
and side to side in addition to the standard swivel,cobalt blue
glass enamel inset eyes,painted lashes,lightly feathered
brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth with pale accented
lips,unpierced ears,brunette human hair over cork pate,kid
poupee body with very shapely torso,gusset-jointing at hips and
knees,kid-over-wooden upper arms,bisque arms to above the
elbows. Condition: generally excellent,tip of one index finger
chipped. Marks: A. Dehors (incised) Comments: Alexandre
Dehors who deposed the unique neck articulation in
1866,allowing the poupee to tilt head "modestly or triumphantly"
according to depose description. Value Points: few examples of
signed poupees by Dehors are known to exist,this example has
delicate beauty and lovely pale complexion,rarer bisque
arms,Dehors deposed neck articulation,wearing early white
pique gown with soutache trim,undergarments,leather ankle
boots,bonnet; an additional gown is included; the doll was
acquired by Geri Baker from "A Fully Perfected Grace",#154,(see
for further photographs).
