Description
13" (33 cm.) Bisque socket head with variant faces depicting, alternately, crying, laughing or sleeping child, the former two with blue glass eyes, and each with closed mouth and beaded teeth, painted lashes, brush-stroked brows, shaded and accented nostrils, a cardboard hood enclosing the back of head and "hidden" faces, carton torso, composition limbs, lace costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: C.B. Comments: Carl Bergner, circa 1890, the various faces are revealed by turning knob at top of head. Value Points: original body, fine quality of bisque and decoration including "tear' on crying face.
