13" (33 cm.) Bisque socket head with variant faces depicting,alternately,crying,laughing or sleeping child,the former two with blue glass eyes,and each with closed mouth and beaded teeth,painted lashes,brush-stroked brows,shaded and accented nostrils,a cardboard hood enclosing the back of head and "hidden" faces,carton torso,composition limbs,lace costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: C.B. Comments: Carl Bergner,circa 1890,the various faces are revealed by turning knob at top of head. Value Points: original body,fine quality of bisque and decoration including "tear' on crying face.
