Description
11" (28 cm.) l. 11" h. overall. Posed upon a wooden box-shaped
platform with four red spoked wheels is a bisque-headed doll
with brown glass inset eyes,painted lashes and brows,accented
nostrils,closed mouth,pierced ears,blonde human hair,carton
torso and shapely legs,wire upper arms,paper mache lower
arms,alongside a flocked-finish paper mache brown cow with
horns,udder and large painted eyes,and a feeding trough and
wooden bucket. When the toy is pulled along,the girl briskly
moves forward and back as though urging the cow home,the
cow turns its head from side to side,moo's,and flicks its tail in an
amusing manner. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 802 0.
Comments: circa 1885,doll's head by Simon and Halbig,the
intricate mechanism is visible beneath the platform. Value
Points: delightful automaton with amusing action,original
milkmaid costume,especially beautiful doll face.
