Description
56" (142 cm.) x 36". Pastel on canvas in delicate colors depicts a
young girl with long brunette hair,wearing deep rose colored
summer dress,seated on a chair with a doll in her lap. The doll
is dressed in her original pale rose silk dress and wide ruffled
bonnet. The painting is signed "Carrier Belleuse" on lower
right,and the back canvas is faintly lettered "1901 C.B.".
Presented under glass in a superb gilded gesso over carved
wooden frame with elaborate garland. French,1901,Louis-Robert
Carrier-Belleuse,1851-1932,the painter is listed in
Benezit,studied at l'Ecole des Beaux Arts,earned a silver medal
at 1889 Universal Exposition in Paris.
