Description
15" (38 cm.) Solid domed carton shoulder head with painted facial features,blue down-glancing eyes,single stroke brows and upper eye liner,closed mouth with accent line between the lips,tacked-on brunette wig,original very slender kid hand- stitched body with high waist,wooden "griffe" hands. Condition: generally excellent,some early repaint of complexion is possible,body very sturdy and clean. Comments: French,circa 1840. Value Points: rare early doll with fine original body and wig,her trousseau of the 1830/40 era,comprises four dresses,extensive undergarments including stylized muslin back hoop,four bonnets,collar,chemisettes,and a silk pillow with tiny silver lettering "Poupee d'Elise".
