11" (28 cm.) Bisque socket head, deep blue glass paperweight inset eyes, painted lashes, brush-stroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, early French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: J 2. Comments: Joanny, circa 1885,the small firm created luxury bebes at its establishment on the prestige address of 202 Rue de Rivoli in Paris. Value Points: signed models of the distinctively sculpted Joanny bebes are very rare, this body particularly so in petite size, and wearing a beautiful antique costume, undergarments, kid slippers, original wig.
