14"(36 cm.) dome base. 8"egg. A paper mache Easter egg is constructed with a wax baby head and baby limbs appearing to be emerging from the egg,the head with blue glass eyes and blonde mohair tendrils beneath the constructed paper mache hood,the arms and legs in curled baby pose,with decorative lace ruffle,and designed for the head to be removed for use as candy container. The egg is arranged within a glass dome with ebony-finish wooden base,and surrounded by paper and silk flowers of the same era,and a second all-wax baby in egg. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French,circa 1885. Value Points: rare candy container baby presented in unusual arrangement,rare style of glass dome.
