5"(13 cm.) A bisque-headed doll with deep cobalt blue eyes,painted facial features,and closed
mouth is posed as though emerging from a copper cooking pot,wearing chef's costume,his right
hand holding a spoom,and his left hand holding a plate. When pin at top of his head is pulled up
and down it causes his right arm to move up and down as though he is tasting the very food he
is preparing. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French,circa 1885,a series of these
amusing mechanical toys were made using diminutive bisque dolls (see also #1 of this catalog)
and having simple,yet amusing actions. Value Points: perfectly preserved in original
condition,with delightful presentation and movement.
