29"(74 cm.) Pressed bisque socket head with elongated facial modeling and very full
cheeks,brown glass paperweight inset eyes,thick dark eyeliner,delicately painted
lashes,brush-stroked and feathered brows,accented eye corners,shaded nostrils,closed mouth
with defined space between shaded and accented lips,separately modeled and pierced
ears,brunette human hand-tied wig over cork pate,French composition and wooden fully-
jointed body with straight wrists,beautifully costumed in antique frock and
undergarments,blue velvet cape with woven lace,lace and silk ribbon bonnet,stockings,leather
shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 14 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body).
Comments: Emile Jumeau,circa 1884,the model sculpted by noted Carriere-Belleuse and
known as "triste" in reference to its sad-faced expression. Value Points: beautiful model in
fine large size with superior quality of bisque,sculpting,original body and body finish,lovely
antique costume.
