Description
10"(25 cm.) A paper mache container in the shape of a coconut shell with rich bark finish has
hinged lid,and contains a paper mache head monkey with brown glass eyes and hinged jaw.
When wound and lever released the monkey pops up inside the coconut, turns from side to
side, while his mouth opens and closes as though smacking his lips over the delight of eating the
coconut. Condition: structurally excellent, mechanism functions albeit slowly. Comments: Roullet
et Decamps, circa 1900. Value Points: amusing concept with realistic details of monkey
characterization.
