Description
18"(46 cm.) Seated upon a three-wheeled cast lead velodipede is a bisque-head woman with
very pale complexion,slender oval shaped face,blue glass enamel inset eyes,beautifully
painted delicate features,closed mouth,blonde mohair wig over cork pate,carton torso,carved
and painted hands,and wearing her superb original silk costume. The velocipede is designed
so that the front wheel can be aimed at will,enabling the cycle to run in a straight direction or
to cover a large area in a circular pattern,all the while the cyclist is pumping the pedals while
her head is turning side-to-side to gaze upon her surroundings. Condition: doll and
velocipede are excellent and all original,clockwork mainspring is lacking. Marks: G. Vichy
Fils,Paris (stamp on clockplate). Comments: Vichy,circa,1867. Value Points: superb large size
with outstanding quality of doll,costume whose accessories include metal earrings formed in
the shape of two-wheel bicycles,and velocipede with original paint and gold stenciling
trimmed with wonderful detail including front running lamp and ivory handles.
