15"(38 cm.) Each has earthenware shoulder head turned to the right,depicting a man and
woman,with inset enamel eyes,deeply sculpted hair and facial features,the man bald with
sculpted moustache,large nose,open mouth with tongue,the woman with windblown hair drawn
into loosely coiled chignon and having smiling expression,each with hemp-wrapped body,carved
wooden hands and feet. Condition: very good facial finishes excellent,some finger wear,man's
left foot worn away. Comments: Neopolitan,early 19th century,the figures depicts villagers. Value
Poitns: superb sculpting of features and hair,original (albeit frail) costumes.
