22" (56 cm.) Bisque socket head with elongated facial shape, full cheeks, deep blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brush-stroked and feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with accented lips, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: J 9. Comments: Joseph Joanny, circa 1885, the firm which created few dolls was located at the Rue de Rivoli in Paris during that decade. Value Points: rare doll with very expressive features, long-faced modeling, lovely bisque, fine antique costume.
