Description
16" (41 cm.) Each is of light paper mache with hand-sculpting depicting storybook fantasy figure, with painted facial features, hollow cloth costume to disguise puppeteer's hand, cloth or paper mache hands. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Museum Extension Project #20530 Philadelphia W.P.A. (on three puppets). Comments: the folk art puppet dolls were created by American artists during the Depression Years as part of the Federal Artist's project, Works Projects Administration (W.P.A.),circa 1935. Value Points: depicted are Grandmother, Wolf, and two children, the rare American folk art figures have wonderful detail of sculpting and painting.
