19" (48 cm.) Bisque socket head with different face on either side of head, one face with blue glass enamel inset eyes, painted lashes, sculpted curvy brows to indicate frown, accented eye corners and nostrils, closed mouth modeled as though open with sculpted tongue and shaded lips, the other face with smiling expression, glass eyes, painted and feathered brows, closed mouth with upturned lips, the head enclosed in cardboard hood which forms into a shoulder plate with sculpted bodice and attaches to muslin covered torso, composition arms, nicely costumed. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Deutsches Reichs patent U.S.P. No 243752 made in Germany. Comments: Fritz Bartenstein, circa 1892. Value Points: rarer model of the popular multi-face dolls with original signed body, working "mama" crier, antique costume.
