Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, plump facial modeling with defined double chin, almond shaped blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, arched feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth, accented lips, pierced ears, brunette human hair wig over cork pate, French kid poupee body with shapely torso, gusset-jointing of limbs, stitched and separated fingers and toes. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: attributed to Barrois, circa 1865, the doll depicts a Crimean War Nurse, romanticized in the public eye by the pioneering nursing efforts of Florence Nightingale. Value Points: beautiful bisque and painting on the large early poupee with original nurse's uniform comprising blue and white striped uniform, undergarments, apron and cap with red cross emblem, shoes, and wonderful blue woolen cape with red woolen lining.
