Description
11" (28 cm.) Bisque socket head with two alternate faces, one having ebony black complexion with brown glass eyes, closed mouth; the other with white complexion, brown glass eyes and closed mouth. The head is enclosed in a cardpaste hood with brass knob at the top that rotates the head to reveal each face, original body with muslin over cardboard torso, composition and wooden limbs, pull-string mama crier, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Carl Bergner, circa 1892. Value Points: very rare model with black and white faces, beautiful sculpting and flawless painting of complexions.
