23" (58 cm.) Solid domed bisque socket head, sculpted brown baby hair with modeling detail at forehead crown, narrow blue glass sleep eyes, painted lashes, lightly tinted brows, open mouth, shaded and outlined lips, two porcelain upper teeth, tongue, composition bent limb baby body, wearing peach organdy baby dress and bonnet. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Vanta Baby L.A. & S. DRGM made in Germany. Comments: Amberg, circa 1927,the doll was commissioned by the American importer as a promotional piece for Vanta baby costumes, and was available in 5 sizes according to the 1927 advertisement in Playthings. Value Points: rare character with unique expression, beautiful bisque quality.
