Description
16" (41 cm.) Each has eggshell composition ("gofum") swivel head and limbs with painted complexion over gesso layer, enamel inset eyes, painted facial features with sculpted character details such as pierced nostrils and chin dimple, girl with black wig, boy with painted hair, each with classic Ichimatsu body with (non-working) bellows crier in mid-torso. Condition: generally excellent, original finish well preserved, some repair to original costumes. Comments: Japanese play dolls, known as Ichimatsu, late 19th/early 20th century. Value Points: wonderful character expressions on the charming boy and girl pair, each with original costumes, complexion, and well-detailed realistic boy and girl bodies.
