
18" (46 cm.) Bisque socket head with two faces designed that one face be shown while the other is hidden, and then reversed at will. One face depicts a crying child with very narrow blue glass inset eyes, painted lashes, brush-stroked and feathered brows, shaded nostrils, eye corners, closed mouth modeled as though open in crying expression, modeled tongue and row of beaded teeth, crystal tear; the alternate face depicts a child with laughing expression, blue glass paperweight eyes, lushly painted lashes, brush-stroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with beaming smile, accented lips, two rows of beaded teeth. The head is enclosed in a paper mache hood with turning loop at the crown, and attached to French composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 7.
