Pale bisque head with flat-cut neck socket that joins to body by torso dowel, rounded facial shape, large pale blue enamel glass inset eyes with spiral threading, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils of tiny nose, accented eye corners, closed mouth with shaded and accented lips, rose eye shadow, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over original Schmitt pate, original composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists, cupped fingers, flat-cut derriere. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 3/0 Bte SGDG (head) (faint derriere impression) 000 (pate). Comments: Schmitt et Fils, circa 1878, their earliest model bisque bebe. Value Points: very rare Schmitt bebe in most appealing petite size, with original Schmitt wig, pate, body, body finish, silk dress and undergarments that are most likely original, rose silk antique bonnet, stockings, leather shoes with gold lettering "Bebe Jumeau Med d'Or Paris 4" and London doll boutique label of H.W. Morrell in Burlington Arcade.
