
Each has bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, blue glass inset eyes, painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accented lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French kid poupee body with gusset jointing, stitched and separated fingers. Condition: generally excellent. groom has an original 1/2" firing line at left crown. Comments: Gaultier, circa 1875. Value Points: in superb original condition, the pair wear their traditional wedding costumes of Finistiere, Brittany, possibly the village of Ploare which traditionally featured the four colors of red, blue, green and yellow found on the chenille streamer's of the groom's hat; the superbly detailed costumes include wedding corsages on each, embroidered red wool stockings on bride, and delicate coiffe of the bride completely enclosing her pristine original coiffure.
