The walnut table with beautifully carved six legs and incised detail of carving on the table surface has an unusual construction that allows the table to extend to various lengths; there are four folding leaf extensions built into the underside of the table, and the table can be extended to use one, two, three or all four of the leaves. The master construction with fine iron hinging and little wooden pegs for perfect fit suggests its possible original production as a salesman sample or maitrise model. Excellent condition. Circa 1880.
