Description

18" (46 cm.) Pale bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate with neck articulation allowing the doll to nod and tilt her head as well as turn side to side, almond shaped blue glass enamel inset eyes, painted lashes, arched feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with accented lips, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, French kid poupee body with shapely torso, gusset-jointing at elbows, hips and knees, stitched and separated fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: attributed to Auguste Dehors, who deposed the unusual and realistic neck articulation in 1866 to compete against the prestigious Huret doll; this was cited in his depose (see Encyclopedia of French Dolls, page 175, by Theimer). Value Points: a rare and beautiful lady doll with lovely complexion, wearing early white pique gown with soutache embroidery, undergarments, lace cap, leather heeled boots.
