Description
4.5" (11 cm.) x 3 1/2" box. A bent wooden box with lid contains a set of soft metal figurines with two-sided hand-painted detail depicting a day in the park with scenery and persons. Included are 8 gentlemen, 4 ladies, 2 couples, 3 vignettes of child including a girl with doll, 1 equestrian and 1 dog, along with more than 30 trees and 7 equestrian jumps. The box lid is labeled Nuremberg with maker's name (Hei..? illegible) and the ink script notation in German, French, and English indicating the theme of the set, "Promenade" or "A Walk", along with Exposition medal and 1849 date. Excellent condition. Mid-19th Century, Nuremberg.
