13" (33 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead of older man with rotund hearty face accented by ruddy cheeks, bald pate with thinning straight hair at sides and back neck, incised age lines, enamel eyes, open mouth, teeth, tinted beard stubble, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted wrinkled black leggings, black shoes with red buckles, wearing original homespun shepherd costume. Excellent condition, one finger broken, finish worn on right hand. Neapolitan, mid-1700s.
