Description
18" (46 cm.) Solid domed bisque head with flat-cut neck socket, blue glass inset eyes, richly painted lashes and brows, rose blushed eye shadow, accented eye corners and nostrils, slightly parted lips with two rows of tiny teeth, pierced ears, original blonde mohair wig, carton torso containing clockwork mechanism, composition arms and lower legs, kid-over-metal-hinged upper legs. When wound, the bebe waves arms and legs in baby-like fashion, turns head, and cries mama. Condition: generally excellent, mechanism functions well. Comments: Jules Steiner, Bebe Gigoteur, circa 1885. Value Points: very fine painting of facial features and blush, amusing and well-functioning mechanism, antique costume, included is antique high chair.
