A wooden box with carved border detail and chromolithographed cover image of children playing with the book, contains a hard covered book with embossed decorations and gold lettered title. There are nine single-page stories at the front of the book, each with color image depicting the scene, while the actual remainder of the "book" is a hollow box containing voice boxes for the sounds of various animals, viz. "moo" for cow. The book is inscribed T.B. and Brevete, and contains the notice that English and German editions are also available. The book is preserved in fine original condition, two bone pull tips missing, some page spotting, and some wear on the box lid image. Circa 1890. A rare and delightful child's recreation, extremely rare in original box.
