Description
6" (15 cm.) x 5" box. A richly embossed and gold-leafed box with centered lid image of a little child wearing a bourrelet cap and the words "Les Petites Filles et Les Poupees" contains six extraordinary miniature books about young girls at play with their dolls. Each book has delicate engravings of children and dolls. Published in Paris, circa 1845,by Jules Didot l'aine. Very fine original condition except two interior sides missing from box. A rare and complete set of early stories about dolls, bearing the original store label of Giroux et Cie, further indicating their deluxe nature.
