French Paper Mache Milliner's Head, Deposed by Danjard

12" (30 cm.) Paper mache bust with printed facial features and scalloped hair around the forehead edges has printed bodice and neckline. There is a band of kid edging around the top of head and neckline that appears original and likely predates his 1867 method of joining the head with metal pins. In 1860 Danjard deposed his method for printing the faces of milliner's heads (see Theimer's Encyclopedia of French Dolls, pages 168/169).The head is marked "Danjard" and "Brevete". Good condition, nose retouch. Circa 1860.
