12" (30 cm.) A bisque-headed doll with blue glass enamel inset eyes, closed mouth, painted facial features, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig, wooden block torso, wire upper arms and legs, metal hands, paper mache lower boots in blue and yellow, is seated upon a cast iron and metal tricycle with painted red finish and gold decorations. The doll wears its original gold and blue fanciful costume and cap, and when wound, he vigorously rides his bicycle around in circles and forward. Condition: generally excellent, mechanism functions well, costume original albeit frail. Comments: Vichy, circa 1875. Value Points: fine luxury toy with wonderful details of tricycle including bone handles, elegant scrolled decoration, original costume.
