24" (61 cm.) Carved wooden shoulder head of gentleman with deeply sculpted short curly hair, painted curls onto the sides of face, painted facial features, blue eyes, outlined eye sockets, black brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth, defined chin, muslin and kid stitch-jointed body, stitched and separated fingers. Condition: generally excellent, some craquelure and early revarnishing. Comments: Germany, circa 1840. Value Points: the doll wears its original early costume including ornate belt buckle, and political button "Harrison & Reform" with raised sculpted design of log cabin, in reference to the 1840 Presidential campaign of Benjamin Harrison known as "the Log Cabin Campaign".
