Description

23" (58 cm.) assembled. A 14" x 14" wooden box which also serves as the base of the assembled toy, contains a wooden shooting target decorated with playing cards themes, and some inset "blocks" that are designed as targets. Included is a well-crafted wooden cross-bow and arrow. The lid of the box is decorated with an early tinted engraving heightened with spot varnish, that depicts two boys playing the game in a parlor setting while their adoring and very fashionable mothers sit nearby watching. The lid has three-language name, indicating its worldwide market, the English name "The Seven of Clubs Target, a new shooting game with the cross-bow". Excellent condition, slight paper fading. Circa 1870.
