Description

31" (79 cm.) Pressed pale bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, plump facial modeling, almond shaped blue glass enamel inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve blushed eye shadow, feathered brows arched widely, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with outlined lips, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, muslin stitch-jointed body with bisque lower arms and separately sculpted fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: maker unknown, French, circa 1867, the facial model resembles the early versions of Bru smiling poupee, and the hands are certainly Bru. Value Point: stunning beauty of the grand-sized early poupee, wearing lovely antique gown, undergarments, shoes, early bonnet, and wooden-handled parasol.
