14" (36 cm.) Pale bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, cobalt blue glass inset eyes, delicately painted lashes and brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accented lips, ears pierced into head, kid gusset-jointed body, bisque arms to above the elbows. Condition: generally excellent, left thumb broken. Comments: attributed to Alexander Dehors, circa 1866, who deposed the remarkable system of head articulation that allowed the doll to tilt head sideways and nod, as well as swivel, lending more realistic movement. Value Points: rare model in appealing size with beautiful expression, rare depose, sturdy body beautiful hands, wearing original gown, bonnet, undergarments, boots.
