11" (28 cm.) Delicately amber-hued poured wax shoulder head with face inclined to the right and downward, blue glass eyes half-hidden under modeled wax half-lids, sculpted brows and nostrils, slightly parted coral-shaded lips, original wispy brunette wig, applied lace collarette. Condition: generally excellent, one finger reglued. Marks: (pencil inscribed notation inside shoulders, illegible,but appears Italian). Comments: mid-19th century, maker unknown. Value Points: undoubtedly a portrait model, and of exquisite beauty, wearing early cutwork cotton bonnet, included are poured wax limbs with beautifully sculpted individual fingers and toes, sculpted sandals on feet.
