36" (91 cm.) Pressed bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, pale blue glass spiral threaded inset eyes, delicately painted lashes, widely brush-stroked brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with accented lips, very full cheeks and lower face, pierced ears, brunette hand-tied human hair wig over cork pate, French kid poupee body with gusset-jointing at elbows, hips and knees, separately stitched fingers and toes, antique ivory silk satin gown, floral coronet and bouquet, undergarments, silk slippers. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 12 (head and shoulder plate). Comments: attributed to Barrois, circa 1860. Value Points: the extraordinary size of the majestic poupee indicates its probable original creation for Exhibition purposes, and explains its exceptional quality of sculpting, bisque and painting.
