14" (36 cm.) Bisque shoulder head with pale complexion, cobalt blue glass inset eyes, lightly feathered lashes and brows, accented nostrils, slightly open mouth, with double row of tiny teeth, unpierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, carton torso with shapely waist and shaped cone skirt that contains clockwork mechanism, kid over metal upper arms, bisque arms from above the elbows, separately sculpted fingers. Condition: generally excellent, mechanism functions well. Marks: J. Steiner Fabricant, Rue de Saintonge, No 25, Paris (original paper label on torso). Comments: Jules Steiner, from his deposed design, when wound, the doll glides forward and in circles, then repeats. Value Points: very rare model in superb original condition, perfect bisque including exquisitely sculpted fingers, original body, and rare original Steiner label, antique costume.
