Description
12" (30 cm.) h. fountain. 7" man. Carved wooden Naples fountain designed to appear as though brick and stone, upon which is resting a woven basket with carved wooden painted bird, while a basket of painted terra cotta breads rests alongside. Standing nearby is a young Persian merchant with polychromed terra cotta head, dark complexion, sculpted crown hair, enamel eyes, posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, original costume. Excellent condition, costume of merchant is frail. Neapolitan, mid-1700s.
