Superb Black Velvet and Red Silk Bonnet

Of lustrous soft black velvet, the bonnet features a very wide face brim of gathered velvet that is lined with red silk and edged on the interior brim with narrow black cording. The bonnet is fully lined in red silk that forms a double row of generous gathers at the inside brim, forms two long streamers, and creates a very wide pouf red silk ribbon with black cording. There is a web of black cording at the back of the head. Excellent condition. Circa 1890.
