22" (56 cm.) All cloth doll with pressed and oil-painted facial features and hair, stitched rounded pate at top of head, stitched ears, large brown eyes, richly painted lashes and brows, closed mouth, blushed cheeks, brown painted curly hair with golden highlights, stitch-jointing at shoulders and hips, painted blue ankle boots with black detail, wearing delicate baby dress. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: No. 2 (and slightly legible stamp on torso). Comments: Ella Smith's Alabama Baby, circa 1910. Value Points: the doll, in wonderful original condition, wearing original "fancy dress" costume as shown in 1912 catalog, and along with a vintage photograph showing original owner proudly holding her doll.
